Thanks for taking a moment to read this letter. Just know I would rather be writing you with positive, uplifting news about what is going on at the Mission, as there are many good things happening here. But the fact is this recent heat wave is putting a real strain on our resources. And we need help.
It’s not just the high temperatures but also how long they’re lasting that is creating significant issues for us. The number of guests seeking emergency shelter is up, utility costs are rising dramatically, along with food and other essential items, and staffing needs are growing.
All this is happening during the summer months when giving generally drops off 20 to 30%. We try to prepare for this season but we didn’t anticipate such an extended period of extreme climate.
Any amount of support right now would make a real difference. Whether it is $5, $10 or something more, your contribution matters. We are blessed with a large base of support in the community. If 20% of our donors respond in August with a small contribution it is more than enough to get through this difficult period.
I appreciate your partnership with us! Please keep the Mission in your thoughts and prayers. God is good and He always provides for those who trust in Him!
His blessings to you,
Pastor Tom
P.S. The next time you purchase bottled water, please consider buying an extra pack and dropping it by the Mission. It would be a great blessing to those who are homeless and must walk outside a lot!
