Happy New Year to you!
With the start of a new year come many opportunities: the chance to remake ourselves, to start fresh on a big project, to create new plans and set new goals. The same is true for many of the guests at the Mission.
However, they tend to set goals around things we often take for granted. Like having proper clothing, buy some type of inexpensive car, working just one job and not two or three, or having a place of their own. The New Year is an opportunity for those at the Mission to take great leaps forward…but without help they might not get anywhere at all.
As you set goals and plan for the upcoming year, please think about offering your help to those at the Mission. Committing time and resources to the less fortunate in our community will help them make those leaps. And it’s not hard to do—there are dozens of opportunities to get involved at the Mission. Our three shelters offer short and long-term housing to almost 350 people every night.
How about volunteering at one of our three shelters? Or come be part of our Homeless Prevention Center that gives away food, clothing and other key items to thousands of needy people. You can also join our free Medical Clinic that provides care to people who have no health insurance.
Perhaps you would consider supporting us financially. Those who are homeless struggle year-round, but it is an especially difficult battle during the cold winter months. The Mission is their primary lifeline during this time and we could really use your help. Would you please consider partnering with the People’s City Mission to help meet their needs?
Thanks for taking a moment to read this. I hope our letter finds you well and already enjoying a blessed New Year. All of us at the Mission wish you a very happy one!
God’s rich blessings,
Pastor Tom Barber
