Ever need a hero in your life? Someone who will rescue you from a bad situation? Maybe help you
overcome a difficult obstacle? Someone you can count on to always be there for you?
For those kids who are fortunate, that person is their dad. He serves as an important hero in their life.
Sadly, most children at the Mission are not that fortunate. Their dads are no heroes. In most cases,
they have been abandoned and abused by the very person that was supposed to love and protect them. Many of them have come to our shelter (with their mom) to escape some horrific situation involving
their father.
The good news is, we deeply care about these kids, and our staff works tirelessly to encourage, reaffirm
and help them cope with difficult issues. We have men on staff, and volunteers, who are reaching out
to become that needed hero to a homeless child.
However, this outreach can’t happen without a lot of prayer and financial support. Would you consider
making a donation to us this month? Most of our funding comes from public contributions like yours
and we are in real need of your support right now. Just know, your gift helps us minister to many
children in need in our community.
You might also consider volunteering at the Mission, and becoming a mentor to one of our children. It
could make a real difference in the life of some child, and also make a difference in yours!
God bless you richly, and to dads everywhere - Happy Father’s Day!

P.S. You may have recently heard about our layoffs. I just want to assure you that the Mission will
continue to be there for the homeless and impoverished in Lincoln. In fact, the number of people using
our services this year will increase to an all time high. So please keep us in your prayers!
