Good Life Halfsy & PCM



WHAT IS THE GOOD LIFE HALFSY?

Lincoln’s newest half marathon, to be held Sunday November 9th through the streets of Lincoln. From Halfsy Website: “The Good Life Halfsy is more than a half marathon. It’s a fun-filled weekend celebrating Nebraska and its people, landmarks, icons and culture. There’s something special about this place and we’re running through the streets of Lincoln to let the secret out…Some would call it a half marathon. We call it the Halfsy.”

HOW DOES IT HELP PEOPLE'S CITY MISSION? 

PCM was chosen as one of 2 charity sponsors for the Halfsy. We have agreed to support this event with 200 volunteers. Those who volunteer with us will help raise much needed funds to support PCM programs and services. The Good Life Halfsy will be donating $10 per hour for each volunteer who helps at the race. Your time would be a great help to us at the race! 


HOW CAN MY GROUP/ORGANIZATION HELP? 

Volunteer as a group before, during, or after the race. Your efforts will not only help the homeless but your group as well, providing a fun team-building or group activity. Volunteers are needed November 8th and 9th to help with parking, gear check-in/check-out, and at water/cheer stations. Groups are encouraged to make it fun, have a theme, share something about your organization, etc. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt. Here are the current volunteer needs: 

Saturday November 8th: 

Set-Up: 10 volunteers to help set up the starting line at Seacrest Field from 10A-3P. 
 

Sunday November 9th: 

Parking Monitors: 20 volunteers to help at Seacrest Field from 7A-11A 

Start Line Setup/Teardown & Marshalls: 10 volunteers at Seacrest 6A-11A 

Gear Claim: 15 volunteers to help runners at gear check in the Haymarket 930A-2P 

5 Aid Stations: 25 volunteers at each station to hand out water and cheer. Times vary from 730A or 830A start to 11A or 1P end. 
 

INTERESTED IN JOINING US? We’d love to have you! 

1. Interested groups will need to choose a volunteer supervisor (group leader).

3. Group supervisor will visit this URL to sign up and pick group volunteer spot: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2014-good-life-halfsy-peoples-city-mission-volunteers-tickets-11674012285

4. Group supervisor will then recruit the # of needed volunteers and share the URL with each volunteer. All volunteers are required to sign up. 

5. The Halfsy will send the volunteer supervisor all the information needed to lead their group before and on race day.
