Mission Staff: Meet Savannah

Savannah Heinzle, from Curtis, Nebraska, started out at the Mission as a volunteer—she goes to school full-time for massage therapy and offered to bring in her table as a treat for the guests at the shelter. After looking into the shelter more, she discovered another way to get involved. These days, she’s working at the Mission as the assistant volunteer coordinator. She’s been keeping herself busy contacting and scheduling the volunteers that help keep the Mission running. And so far, she’s been loving her new position.

“I was most taken in by the caring hearts of People City Mission,” said Savannah. “I have never been in such a loving environment towards others. The chance for me to get to serve others and know that I am really making a change in their lives.”

Savannah says she has been strongly impacted by the guests at the Mission. “The guests here are just like you and I,” she said. “They have just taken a wrong turn and need that little extra push to help them out.”

That realization is pushing Savannah to improve her own life even as she helps the Mission impact the lives of volunteers and guests alike. As she settles into her new role, Savannah looks forward to working directly with individuals both giving and receiving help, and to sharing her faith in a deeper way. So if you see Savannah around the Mission, be sure to say hello!
